Tom Douglas Restaurants recently announced Bridget Charters will guide the development of a new cooking school at Hotel Ändra called Hot Stove Society. Classes begin this summer for food enthusiasts of all skill levels. The cooking workshops will be a food lover’s learning destination, offering a wide range of culinary and lifestyle programming.
As a chef instructor at the Art Institute for 17 years and a production manager for Emmy-winning Nick Stellino’s Family Kitchen, Charters is a fixture in the Seattle food scene. She also worked extensively in Italy and as culinary producer of the Aspen, New York and Miami Food & Wine Festivals.
Tom Douglas restaurant chefs will provide the backbone of Hot Stove Society instruction, but the calendar of program events will also include other local and national talent. A class schedule should be available at the end of March.
The cooking school will be located on the east side of Hotel Ändra (2000 Fourth Avenue in downtown Seattle) on the second floor. The space will feature a demonstration stage, audio-visual equipment, and spacious hands-on work stations. The school’s entrance will accommodate an intimate, yet-to-be-named cocktail lounge for hotel guests, as well as the public. Hotel Ändra is redesigning their own event space to accommodate increased activities and private dining.
